What is Macro Dieting?

Happy Monday #fitfam! We have been getting a lot of questions about Macro Dieting lately from many of our followers. i.e. what “macro dieting" actually means and how it helps your overall fitness goals. We are here to the rescue! And to help answer some of those questions and explain what it all means for you "to fit your macro”. So lets take this Motivation Monday and hopefully motivate us all to try something new with our fitness diet! 

 

The main focus of Macro Dieting is about losing body fat while gaining lean muscle… and achieving that through a diet that works for you. Eating the food you want.

 

First, back to the basics. The term “macro” is short for macronutrient. So, what is a macronutrient? A macronutrient is a nutrient that is required in LARGER amounts than other nutrients we consume.

 

“IIFYM” - "If It Fits Your Macro” - Flexible Dieting 

This centers around meeting your daily macro-nutrient goals with a plan designed to help you identify those foods that will help you achieve your fitness goals. 

The goal is to plan your daily meals so that the food you eat throughout the course of the day provides you with the complete amount of the “macros” that are determined to optimize you meeting your fitness goals. 

 

How does this help your overall fitness goals? Macro Dieting is designed so that as long as you include your designated “macro” amount each day, the food you eat and the meals you plan are completely up to what works for you! And the best part is that this will not negatively effect your fitness goals or body transformation plans… Its designed to help you achieve them! 

 

The general idea to achieving your fitness goals is to lose weight while building up your lean muscle… which comes down to your caloric intake vs output. Developing lean muscle requires macronutrients for growth. The focus of Marco Dieting is all about ensuring the food and meals you intake are planned with enough “macro nutrients” determined to help produce optimal results for growth of your muscle and loss of body fat. Structuring your flexible dieting to help you achieve your fit goals.
